I had one for several years and I bought one for my Mom also. This is a really good deal. I really like this answering machine with dual keypad and speakerphone. I needed an extra handset, so I took that, and my Mom got a new answering machine and it didn't cost much more than a single extra handset costs.
It can be purchased for $4.99 plus shipping from Uniden, but it is out of stock and back-ordered on the Uniden website. It was fully charged in the morning, and it ran out by the end of the day. This piece is not included. Perhaps we got a lemon, but buyer beware that the battery life is very weak on ours.
Three times in two weeks we've had the handset battery run completely out -- in the middle of a call -- after just an hour or two, at most, of total use. The sound is just okay, not particularly good. And we don't have a teenager who is talking on it constantly. It does not come with a wall-mount bracket. It works well enough in terms of an answering machine and phone in general. It was a refurbished phone, and it appeared just as good as new when we took it out of the package (I've always had good luck with refurbished products). It CAN be wall-mounted, but you need a separate piece -- a plastic piece that attaches to the base unit -- to mount it. So, if you want to mount the base unit on the wall, you might want to find a different phone system.2.
That's from normal usage. We have been using this phone system for a few weeks now. The price was good -- less than $40.I have two major problems with the system, however: 1. The handset battery does not last long if you are using the phone to any degree.
Another con is that it does not provide a feature to auto dial the "1" before making long distance calls from caller I.D. What did I expect for the price. This is a good budget phone system but be prepared to replace it. Loved the features on this phone and have been satisfied with it for the first year and a half. However, now the display flickers, the speaker feature works intermittently, and the phones will not hold a charge.I'm not surprised really. My other phone permitted entry of local area codes and then autodialed the long distance prefix for other area codes.
The base showing is an "E4" error message. It would cut out during calls, even when close to the base.
There are plenty of reliable phones available out there, and now I'm off to find one to replace my dead Uniden. The answering machine would cut people off mid message.
The handsets would lock up for no apparent reason and I had to take out the battery to get them to reset. I suppose I may just have got a particularly bad one, but I will never buy another Uniden product again.
I've had this phone for just over a year and today when I came home I found that it had died once and for all. I've tried several things hoping to somehow reset it, but with no success.Even before the phone died I had all kinds of problems with it.
This is by far the worst phone I have ever owned.
In addition to standard, garden variety phone use, I regularly use the handset's speakerphone for long conference calls and have had no problems whatsoever. I purchased this phone two years ago and am pleased to report that it's still working flawlessly. I think I may have finally found a keeper.
